Pretty darned good.

After 45 years of homemaking I ultimately found a solution to dull instruments. I now own three of these productions for sharpening; knives, scissors and this one for garden tools. I’ve applied it on all of my more spectacular objects. I call it “sharpening for dummies” because I have no accomplishments but want sharp garden tools. If only they made a mini sharpener so that I didn’t have to disasemble my pruning shears I’d be a very happy camper.

Works well on Garden Tools and Lawnmower Blades

This is a cheap, simple tool to use, and gives good results. I’ve employed it to sharpen a few clippers, hedge trimmers, and the lawn mower blade on a cordless Black & Decker lawnmower which was pitted and dulled. All tools I employed it on seem to carry out noticeably better than before.

It works

Worked outstanding on my bypass pruners (large and small) and my grass shears (all Corona drop-forged). My big pruner was very dull after a great deal of years of use and the Accu Sharp renewed the blade better than I expected. On the introductory few passes it genuinely took off visible little pigtails of metal shavings as it honed the cutting blade to a precise, uniform and shiny-new edge. I can’t imagine a professional sharpener doing a better job. I in an unintentional manner cut my thumb with a light bump versus the sharpened blade! Totally my fault – I wasn’t using the accusharp at the time. I kept the sharpener at an angle keeping one side of the “V” shaped sharpening notch flat versus the flat side of the cutting blade. This was not difficult to do – in fact the Accusharp seemed to “lock in” comfortably at this off-center angle. For the Coronas no dis-assembly was required. I spray the blades with WD40 to maintain the edges among use. I’ve only sharpened my tools once so far so I can’t say how long the Accusharp lasts but at this price you may buy two. I’m here to buy my “back-up” now. The kitchen version of this tool has replaceable blades but I haven’t seen them for the garden version.
