Final Season winds down with some real gems amongst several dissapointments

By 1963-64, when the final season of Twilight Zone was being filmed/aired, the show had already gone through a cancellation, a name change, a change in length and was going on it’s 3rd president in office. So many wonderous ideas had made it onto the screen that the well understandably began to run dry. In the realm of science fiction, quite often a writer will begin to rely on cliches more so often after years in the genre.

Fantastic bonus features!

I am not sure why none of the product descriptions online have the correct information about the audio commentaries and video interviews for Season 5. Here is what’s included on Season 5:
Audio commentaries: Mickey Rooney, Mariette Hartley, Martin Landau, June Foray, Bill Mumy, (and TZ Companion author Marc Zicree). Video interviews: Terry Becker, June Foray, Nancy Malone, Bill Mumy, Carolyn Kearney, Michael Forest, and writers Earl Hamner, Richard Matheson, George Clayton Johnson.
These were splendidly produced…and I sure wish Seasons 1-3 had the video interviews. Oh well, hopefully they’ll release TZ again someday and they’ll be included. Although the video interviews are all great, a few of the audio commentaries (for this set, and on the previous seasons) leave something to be desired. Mickey Rooney’s borders on insane – he’s so elderly now and obviously sick of discussing his career. He pretty much grumbles his way through the 23 minutes of his episode and obviously only agreed to do it for the money. Martin Landau, too, fakes his way through the episode he appeared in, obviously remembering nothing significant about it.
The video interviews were edited well, and the actors & writers mostly comment on their careers and the time period of Twilight Zone, not quite as much about the episodes they starred in/wrote. The other bonus features on this set, including “Conversations with Rod Serling” and a bonus disc of “Submitted for Your Approval” (90 minute documentary) are great. I hope someday more of Rod Serling’s stuff is released on DVD. This Definitive Edition series is splendid, overall.

Most Practical Asperger Syndrome Book!

I am the mother of THREE children with Asperger Syndrome. This book has a clear and concise methodology for tracking meltdown triggers in the school setting. August 2006 has already brought forth a few unforgettable reality television moments:

In one week I have seen a female contestant take a dump on an Italian marble floor for the duration of the initial episode of Flavor of Love 2, Dwayne “Dog” Chapman marry his common-law wife Beth wearing a pair of white jeans and a white Chippendales vest on Dog The Bounty Hunter, Keith Michael get kicked off of Project Runway, and Gene Simmons introduce his new show “Family Jewels” — which might just be the most offensive and lame reality show I have seen since…..ever.

But, the reality TV moment destined to be watched on YouTube more than The History of Dance Guy goes to:

Flavor of Love, Season “Number Two” — a relationship/dating show featuring Flavor Flav of Public Enemy. You recognise Flav, right? He’s the guy who’s the size of a circus peanut and wears Movado clocks around his neck.

Well, Flav’s star is rising once again, and with moments like this he’ll be getting his own star on the sidewalk. (Sure it will be in Compton, but hey…give the Flav a break!)

This week an obscene amount of persons tuned in to see greasy-faced Flavor Flav undertake once again to find his lady love. But, there were no ladies in Season 1. And this season looks worse. Within 15 minutes of being in the house, a contestant named H-Town (after her home city, Houston, TX) and another one whose name is PRONOUNCED Sapphire, but you’ll need a ghetto-momma translator to learn how to spell it, have a full on cat fight over a twin bed. Sapphire was carried out of the house by the butler, screaming when it comes to whuppin’ ass and her $800.00 dollar weave. H-Town was sent home with a posible concussion from the brawl. This scene, however, was DisneyWorld equated to the one that specified this episode. “Somethin,” a large, earsplitting and “in- charge sista,” squat right down and emptied her intestines onto Flav’s marble floor. Rumor has it that Somethin’ genuinely tried to pick up her fecal matter and sneak up the stairs unnoticed. But, two things made an elusive exit impossible: one the stink that filled the room, causing Flav to exclaim “What’s that smell up in my crib??” and two, the fact that she dropped a piece of said fecal matter on the stairs.

Here’s an interesting fact most don’t know: Somethin’ is genuinely an internet adult entertainer. In other words, she is a skanky ‘net ho. The “skinny” is that Somethin’ was not sick as she claimed, but so loose in the nether-regions from her porn action that things just, well, fell out.

VH1 kinship show “Flavor of Love 2″ captured the biggest season premiere audience ever for the cable network — which means there are a lot of sick freaks out there. Tune in next Sunday for more Flavor Flav.

Well written, but content is misguided

I read this book, as well as others, because I’m taking a stab at filming a screenplay with a great deal of other people. I have enjoyed galore of the other dummies books, but I thought this one was off target. It is very high level. For example, in the original or second chapter, he goes over what the occupation roles are for the production assistant, and ten other occupation titles you might see at the end of a Hollywood movie, and I’m thinking to myself, am I genuinely going to have a full-time grip on my movie? I was hoping this book would focus on the nuts and bolts of making a small-budget / zero-budget film, but it talked when it comes to numbers that implement to people who aren’t going to be reading a dummies book. On the whole, I thought it was a real surface look at independent filmmaking, and would be suitable for an individual who wanted to learn in regards to it, but not do it. You would be better off buying IFILM Filmmakers Handbook and a great deal of person books on lighting and sound if you actually want data in regards to how to make your own film. A lot of the info in this book may be found on the web, also.

Filmmaking for Dummies

The book is very helpful. It brings a lot of good selective information for new filmmakers. You may find tricks, terminologies, tips, techniques, and more to commence your career as a new filmaker. There are galore good material to learn. The author uses recent movies as examples. It covers a heap of distinct elements of the filmmaking industry and how to make a low budget film. Beside, the book brings a lot of links to interesting web pages related with the filmaking industry.

Good overall reference for filmmaking, for the beginner. For the experienced, good reminder of the basi principles that one might have forgotten.

In Batman Begins, we came throughout a young Bruce Wayne (in the form of modify ego Batman) engaged in a struggle to save Gotham City from annihilation at the hands of the mysterious Ra’s Al Ghul and the toxicity disseminate all around the city by the crazy Scarecrow. In The Dark Knight (incidentally the only Batman movie ever without the word ‘Batman’ in the title), we witness Batman attempting to reclaim his hometown from the clutches of a seemingly insane psychopath who calls himself The Joker.

The Dark Knight begins on a grand note as we witness Batman upping the ante on demolishing crime and corruption in Gotham City. He allies Lieutenant Gordon and the newly appointed District Attorney Harvey Dent (christened The White Knight of Gotham by media personnel) with himself to further beef up his vise-like grip on the crime syndicates in Gotham. Things are proceeding with no problems or difficulties until a new face appears on the crime scene in Gotham, the ‘not-so-serious’ face of a new psychotic bank robber, who has christened himself ‘The Joker’. It appears that Joker is attempting to fetch the criminal gangs in Gotham (that are in disarray following the death of the leaders in police encounters or their imprisonment) underneath his control. If things were that smooth, it might not have been a huge problem for Batman and his group of law enforcer allies. But things begin to take a dissimilar turn when gruesome corpses get started turning up at the crime scenes left by Joker. Corpses that have gruesome smiles carved into their faces. It soon becomes clear that Joker alternatively chooses to see people die agonizing deaths without any specific motive.

Batman launches a full scale investigation to find out the whereabouts of this new threat. Meanwhile, Joker turns up at the Wayne Manor at the dead of the night to warn Alfred, Bruce’s faithful butler, that Batman ought to stop meddling in his agenda to make the world smile all the way to the grave. Alfred is terrified, but Joker does not hurt him, merely leaving him the message to pass on to Batman. Alfred is deeply concerned when it comes to the fact that Joker has found out Batman’s true identity and informs Bruce as soon as he returns home. Bruce listens intently as Alfred remarks that Joker can not be reasoned with; he is plainly one of those men who receive pleasure from seeing the world burn, for no apparent reason whatsoever. Bruce decides to fetch Joker to justice no matter what the consequences. What follows is a dangerous cat-and-mouse game amid Batman and his most worthy adversary yet.

The Nolan brothers have brought the epic DC comic reputation to life like never before. The Dark Knight features a tight, no frills script brought to life by Christopher Nolan, outstanding dialog and well choreographed action sequences. Christian Bale has received great fame through his great performance in the initial movie as Batman and in this second one, he lives up to his reputation (as the best Batman ever) with great panache. But it is Late Heath Ledger who steals the show this time, even overshadowing Batman in a lot of frames. Jack Nicholson had antecedently portrayed Joker as a man having a authenti sense of humor, who in spite of his criminal instincts, seldom killed any individual without a good reason. He was, as Sir Michael Caine (Alfred Pennyworth in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight) commented, like “a killer old uncle”. Heath’s Joker is cold and emotionless with a twisted sense of humor that makes sense to none but himself. Caine added that when he primary met Heath on the sets with his Joker makeup on, he gave Caine such a fright that he forgot his lines. Heath is being hailed the best Joker ever, with even speculations when it comes to a posthumous Oscar among moviegoers.The Dark Knight is a bloody, brutal movie. Those who may stomach blood and gore on screen with ease will be capable to witness one of the greatest masterworks ever created. However, the movie does end with one question on everyone’s lips. What’s next, Nolan?
