4Excellent Product — Only One Complaint
By June Campbell
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RRMCVPDB6IKIO This video holds a visual representation of the Fiskars portable paper trimmer, along with my review. I consider this product an magnificent tool for scrapbooking or paper crafting. It is easy to use, never wears out, lightweight sufficient to carry to scraps and works like a charm. My only complaint is that the numbers along the vertical scale are difficult to read. For this reason, I give four stars rather of five.

3Well, it cuts paper in a straight line
By BenB
I have been using this for assorted months and it has been cutting straight lines, which is what I got it for. But I do have a heap of complaints. The markings aren’t rather exact on the one I got. There are two grids, one on each side of the cutter and one is right on and the other is off a little. This wouldn’t be a problem but I can’t always see the exact one due to the paper covering it.

Another problem is that that you have to guess incisively where the blade will cut. There is just a trough where the blade cuts but it doesn’t give you a precise spot so you have to learn with experience to get it when it comes to right.

Another skill you ought to master, since the gridlines aren’t very helpful, is to try to press it versus the shoal plastic guides at the top edge, which are, thankfully, precise, but they only stick up a little fraction of an inch so you have to develop the talent of pressing the paper with resolute determination versus them (with galore finger pressure from above) but gently so the paper doesn’t jump over the guides.

(Not important, but I think the color is ugly. Sure I could see that in the photo, but it is the only compact one I could find that would cut a full 11″ sheet.)

Bottom line, if you need a compact paper cutter for full size sheets and don’t mind numerous training time at the beginning, this will do it for you.

2Great design but poor manufacturing
By C. W. Chen
I saw and used a similar model of Fliskar trimmer at my son’s apartment, and purchased myself this model. Upon my introductory use, I found the paper stuck a little to the trimmer because of a heap of glue seeping out from underneath the pasted-on (!) ruler grid. I had to clean it up with alcohol, which regrettably also got rid of a little yellow color from the grid pattern. The grid is made of thick paper, not aluminum as stated in the Product Description! Amazon ought to rectify this (if they are reading this).

A problem popped up after a couple of days’ use. The orange plastic swinging arm the extends the width measurement, upon swinging out, tore up the pasted-on horizontal paper ruler! I fixed this by unscrewing the arm assemblage (which has a washer, the only thing in this trimmer that is [probably] made of aluminum) and gluing the paper ruler back into place with a super strong glue. I hope that it works.

After all these, I became very disturb and wonder who develop this. I turned it over and looked. It does not say who made it, but just said ‘Made in China’.

I would return this produce. However, I have taken it abroad. So I just make do.
