5Excellent Hunting Knife
By James Krebs
The blade on this knife makes it an splendid hunting knife. I own a few other knives (Buck, Case, Victorinox, Wenger and others) but the S30V steel in the Gerber Freeman Stag makes it the best cutting knife in the bunch. Edge retention is outstanding and out of the box the knife was the sharpest I’ve ever kept in my hand. The stag handle adds a touch of classic ruggedness that I’ve come to appreciate. It likewise comes with a good quality leather sheath which is something that’s not too mutual with knife purchases anymore.

I had looked in a good deal of sporting good stores and they all had the knife listed for around $120.00…some even more. It’s worth the $120.00+ which makes it an particular value in this listing. I purchased the knife with regards to a month ago when it was being sold directly from Amazon and the shipping was free. I see now that it’s listed by Big Edge Sports.

The only second thought was whether I will have to have purchased the gut-hook model. Personally, I don’t like the idea of having to sharpen a gut-hook on any knife but since this knife holds an edge peculiarly well, I think the hook could cut assorted hides before it would need to be resharpened.

I highly commend the knife…

5Best knife I have ever owned
By PaDoc
I am in my 60′s, am an avid hunter and outdoorsman. This is the best hunting knife I have ever owned. The edge retention is superb. The effort required to sharpen the knife back to razor fineness is minimal. The handle in my opinion is better than any of the plastic versions I have applied on other knives. I note that another review panned the handle. I have actually the opposite feeling. In butchering animals, this handle does not slip, and the finger notches fit my hand perfectly. It’s associate blade, the littler caper, is magnificent for fine work. The weight and remainder of both knives is perfect. Not too heavy to carry in the high country, but strudy sufficient to take my usual amount of abuse. You will not be disappointed in this product.

5A GREAT Knife
By Casey
I purchased this precise knife only with wood handles from Cabelas. It’s the same blade and same S30V steel. Right out of the box it was straight up scary sharp. It whisked the hairs off my arm like nothing. I skinned out a whole deer with it as it is primary task and it actually didn’t even touch the edge, it was still exceedingly sharp. I stropped it on galore leather and the edge was right back to scary again. It fits my hand utterly and is very well balanced and is very controllable. At the end of the skinning occupation I didn’t have any hand fatigue at all. If you want a good overall knife that’s easy to carry and is a quality unit, this is a good one. I’ve carried mine all over the place and it’s so light that you forget you have it on sometimes. Any outdoorsman would gladly receive this knife as a fine gift and be happy with it.
