4Good saw, bad sheath
By S. Carroll
I purchased this saw for myself for Christmas. The saw looks and feels good, but I can’t get it in the sheath. The saw bites into the plastic insert making it next to inconceivable to get the saw altogether inside the sheath. This complicates carrying the saw in my daypack. Good saw, bad sheath.

5Very surprising
By Fourstring
Didn’t suppose much from it but when I employed it I was blown away. Made quick work of everything I applied it on. Got through a (roughly 12″ thick) 1/2 downed tree with ease. Both sides of the saw work great, the sheath isn’t that good I had to make a great deal of adjustments to it.

2Too Heavy
By Gene
This saw gets an A for conception and a D for implementation. I suppose pack saws to have light weight construction; this one does not. The handle is rather heavy and appears to be solid metal except for a little rubber to help with the grip. Weight including sheath is 12.3 oz. The weight of the saw is 8.6 oz. For comparison, I had been using a 7.3 oz folding saw by Corona. The very sharp Corona blade was only 1.2 oz. Corona could be forgiven for having a heavy handle since this was a garden tool and not a pack saw. I was giving careful consideration to making a light weight handle to fit the Corona blade when I came throughout the Gerber pack saw. I thought it was just what I necessitated until it arrived and the handle felt like the head of a hammer. The saw cuts wood OK but I find the handle uncomfortable. I have not tried cutting bone but the bone saw is utile for very little limbs where the wood saw becomes rather jerky. The sheath has a hard plastic insert and I have not had any difficultness getting the saw in or out of the sheath.
