Gilmour

If you want to listen a perfective guitar solo, there are just a few guys you have on speed-dial: Hendrix, Van Halen, Beck, Lifeson…but surely Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour.

In an age where old guys are recycling everything they’ve done for the last 40 years and looking like well-worn wallets (yes, I’m talking with regards to the Stones), Gilmour is genuinely an individual you don’t want to stray from his chosen path with “On An Island”. Gilmour has never sounded better and more inspired by the blues.

This guy could play a coffee table and it would sound grand, so when big numbers like “Then I Close My Eyes” blow out of your speakers, you recognise precisely who you’re hearing, and you wouldn’t want him to do anything else. Also remarkable is the ethereal “The Blue” and the spartan arrangement behind “Smile”. Absolute genius.

Lesser guitarists and composers–of which there are many–would do well to add Gilmour’s latest to their mandatory listening list. It’s genuinely time for the corresponding that shows up in innovative music to learn from the true pros who have gone before, and David Gilmour is just such a master.

The reason this all works so well, is that–like so galore of the greats–David Gilmour never goes with anything less than galactically great tone. In fact, if you were to look at somebody completely different, like Eddie Van Halen…the staying power is the same. Yes, Van Halen had speed and inventive craziness…but at the end of the day, he could hit one chord and fill a room with gorgeous tone. That is precisely what happens here, except that Gilmour hits one NOTE, and the that note rides on creamy, buttery tone and simple, blues-based licks.

So if Pink Floyd’s erstwhile fretman releases nine more albums just like this, most of us won’t mind a bit. This is what he must be doing, and no one does it better. Buy ‘On An Island’. Gilmour’s true-blue masterpiece.

5Better than Plastic Ones
By B. Pine
I had the Plastic connectors but they don’t last that is why i changed to these. Lowe’s and Home Depot only had the ones with the built in shut off and i wanted one that didn’t. This was the only place that had them, price was good and they work great. Don’t waste your time with the plastic one, just remunerate the little extra and buy these because they will last.

5Gilmour quality.
By Chino
I’ll keep it short and sweet as it’s a quick-connector set.

If you’re not intimate with Gilmour, they make high-end, professional, industrial type fittings, hoses, farming and garden equipment. These quick connector adaptors are no exception. They are heavy duty, crush immune (proof?), and have rubberized surfaces to support in tightening the connection. High quality o-rings and solid brass ball-bearings provide for a leak-free quick-connection. Save yourself the shipping (or price “surcharge” by Amazon) and pick this one up at Lowes locally for beneath $6.

Beware, these are BRASS fittings, so there is always a lead hazard related with them. Please, DO NOT DRINK from your garden hose!

5Great product
By Barry S.
Product works fine but be careful if you buy it from Lowe’s; they not long back changed from brass to “Metal.” The weight is 20% less and I did not buy them. Pay the shipping and get the brass. Got 12 sets from Geroy and the price was only $88.16, including shipping. Well worth it.
