5Could’ve Done Well in the Eighties
By Michael Griswold
Nelson…you guys were too late to the party. With their huge hair that made them look a little girlish and super-awesome guitar playing along with sizeable song writing chops the brothers Matthew and Gunner Nelson could’ve made an easy killing for the duration of the hayday of hair for the duration of the mid to late 1980′s. However, After the Rain and Just Can’t Live Without Your Affection arrived in 1990 as music was going through a transition from stuff and relics of the 1980′s to the musically varied grunge rock/rap/bubble gum pop triumph rate that was the 1990′s. Thusly outstanding music like Just Can’t Live Without Your Affection had only a brief moment in the sun before being plowed over by everything from mullets to gangster rap with a Spice Girl on the side. With that said, this is a outstanding song with lyrics and emotions that don’t seem neither forced or horrendously overblown into silliness.
