@nasafakedit , because he had 3 very small kids to feed, and got laid off by the bank after he refused to bend the rules for an arrogant investor who decided to throw his weight around. He took the civil service exam and did well. Dad was a smart, yet humble guy. He figured he’d not get laid off from the big old gaping maw of the government. He got increasingly disillusioned, for sure. When he retired, he was outta there.

I like Ventura, but I disagree with the $7000 higher amount that a person would make working for the government. My dad’s retired from the gov., and he never made anywhere near the same as equivalent jobs did in the private sector. The main thing for him was there was job security (…as the government just keeps growing to feed itself).

Um. Duh. Has he BEEN to a frickin VA hospital? I thought that was common knowledge. I don’t think I’ve ever heard Ventura be farther off base. He usually knows what he’s talking about. I find it hard to believe he’s never seen a VA hospital or talked to any vets who’ve been through that system. I have no idea where that came from.
