5This is a solid manifold, but, don’t let it freeze
By J. Preston
I am not sure why the other reviewer is having a problem. It sounds to me as if he/she let the manifold freeze while on the faucet for the duration of freezing weather.

If you leave the faucet on, and, it freezes, it is likely that the top of this manifold will pop. It is designed to do this. If you leave it on your faucet for the duration of a deep freeze, and, leave the faucet on, either the top of this will pop, or, your pipes will pop. Better the manifold must pop than the pipes behind the wall.

I’ve applied this for a couple of months on a farm and ranch “quit freeze” (I’ll upload a picture if I have the time).

It has worked well. It is a solid, quality piece of cast brass (low-tin bronze), machined to provide the required deliverance at each faucet head. I use it, without disturb in warmer weather (here in the mountains ANYTHING above freezing is “warmer weather”) for watering my garden around my spa. It permits a lot of flexibleness in supplying water through affixations that I attach and detach with the Orbit quick couples. Orbit Lawn & Garden Brass Hose Quick Connect Set #58117

With the time savings provided by having more than one hose and attachment available at the turn of a valve, I may afford the time to nurture my garden. Otherwise, I would be too busy screwing on affixations and hoses to get much watering done.

This item is a quality time saver, and, with care to keep out of the way of freezing with water in it, like any other exterior plumbing, it will last a lifetime.

2Not as good as it looks
By David deJongh
This looks like a sturdy manifold, being made of solid brass, supposedly. I installed one outside one of our rental properties with regards to three years ago, but one of the hose outlets has parted company from the body, so I’ve junked it.
The Gilmore equivalent is a little more expensive, but I’d guess it is better made, and it has a lifetime warranty. I’ve purchased a number of brass Gilmore fittings over the years, and none of them has failed. One that is at the back of my house has been in use for seven years, and is swapped from one side of the “Y” to the other regarding each two weeks in summer. It still works perfectly.
By the way, for those with freezing problems, the later type of non-freezing exterior faucets will drain as soon as the faucet is turned off, even if a hose is attached.

1Did not last the winter
By Jan R. Klincewicz
Apparently these have a 4-year warranty (but I commonly don’t save receipts for $15.00 items, exceptionally if they are made out of brass (mostly). I purchased TWO of these in the fall, and both broke within days of my turning the water on this spring. The topmost connector broke on each one (wasting gallons of water until I walked outside and noticed.)

Gilmour makes a similar product with a LIFETIME warranty. That’s what I purchased as replacements,
