 Great Stick- But..

OK- I received the stick and was enjoyably surprised. For 13.00 a outstanding value. But now for the downside. I purchased this item for the capacity to attach my camera. I use it a lot on the beach. The problem is the screw is the defective threading for any camera. Not only do I have SLR’s – Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, but likewise a couple point and shoot digitals and find myself now using them almost exclusively. One is a Cannon and one a Panasonic. This screw on the walking stick is distinctly NOT for most cameras. But if you are at all handy you may alter the screw in the stick to a frequent 1/4″ and you will likewise have to alter the receiving nut in the cap. I likewise decisive to put another 1/4″ in the side of the stick so I could take vertical pictures as well. With with regards to 1 1/2 hours work it’s outstanding and candidly at least a hour of that time was figuring out what to get at Home Depot. Don’t let this admonish you from purchasing the stick.

This hiking staff is made of “Bianbai Wood” which comes from the tree “Platycladus Orientalis” or mutual name “Book-Leaf Pine”. Native to China, Japan, Taiwan, Russia, Ukraine and exotic in Poland, Iran, France, New Zealand, Hawaii, USA. The timber is employed for gateposts & furniture. The tree is highly honored in mystical Chinese folklore, and was planted within the tombs of Ancient Emperors. It’s seeds were also placed within the caskets. “Platycladus Orientalis” has become very frequent as a hiking staff / walking stick. Very gorgeous looking, light weight, sturdy & straight this hiking staff is the best I have ever found for the price and for only $12.95 with free S/H it is a gift from the Emperor.

Lightweight walking stick, appears weak

Overall this is a good stick. When walking through the Sierras all day, it is a relief to have a light stick that’s also a good support. However, one of the reasons for me to carry this stick is as a bear stick, so I have attached little bells to it to cause clinking when walking. That said, the low weight worries me if it has to see real action with a bear. Good sufficient for hiking, but don’t know if it will stand up to a real emergency. I hope it never gets tested that way!
