5Was here when we necessitated it
By A. Dent
We purchased our basi Shop-Vac, a 10-gallon, 4HP unit, back in 2005 and it served us well for 6 years, sucking up water speedily off the basement floor – sorry to say but we get a little bit of flooding from time to time when it rains a lot. And, believe it or not, we likewise applied it to get the sand out of our pool filter a couple of times – assorted bucketfulls. Well… a couple of weeks ago that unit kicked the bucket, so to speak and we without delay ordered it is successor. This one.

It’s more prominent and more powerful which, when it comes to Shop-Vacs that are expected to suck in water and sand, translates to ‘better’.

Some things worth noting and which I like in regards to this vac include:

- 6.5 HP, quiet motor
- 16-gallon capacity
- Simple construction – it’s basically a bucket with an electric motor on top, a huge hose and a lot of accessories.
- Easy to take apart and reassemble. The hose comes off effortlessly and so does the top.
- Nice drain, it would empty the 16-gallon bucket in less than half a minute.
- Easy to move around on 3 little caster wheels.
- Great suction power – when it comes to water, it fills up the 16 gallons in less than a minute and would remove the water off the floor in a literal sense to the last drop.

It comes with accessaries – and all the accessaries from our retired 10-gallon vac fit – and a commodious accessaries bag. You also get a cartridge disposable filter and a disposable filter bag but filters are not necessitated when dealing with water. I liked the fact that the filters that fit this model – their portion numbers – are on a sticker on the vac’s body so, even if you misplace your manual, which I many times do, you’ll recognise what to order.

The manual, by the way, it’s not the best written one but assemblage and operation are so easy, you don’t in truth need one. Some assembly, by the way, is required. It involves attaching the caster feet to the vac’s body and then snapping in the casters. You will need a flat head screwdriver.

One thing that could be bettered is the length of the power cord. I could use more than 18 feet. And it would be nice if the cord could be isolated from the vac, making it posing no difficulty to move it around when the bucket needs emptying.

Last year, when I wrote a review to mark our basi Shop-Vac’s 5th anniversary I wrote:

[In spite of the little shortcomings, it still gets it is 5 stars (translates into "I love it" on Amazon's stars scale) because not only do I love it but I'd in all probability buy a alternate if the one we have now stopped working. But, 5 years after we purchased it, it did NOT stop working. Therefore the endorsement.]

Well… that one did stop working and we did buy a replacement. And we did use it today when a good deal of heavy rains brought a little bit of water into our basement. We were glad to have the proper tool to address the emergency.

4Solid High-End Performer

I have owned this vac for 2 weeks. Overall it is a well built and simple machine to use. The assemblage instructions are reasonable and it comes with assorted divergence nozzle choices and a mesh bag that holds accessaries together when not in use.

Prior to this purchase, I own a Rigid 4.5HP vac that I still use in another part of my home. I purchased this unit to support with cleanup in my garage for the duration of wet winter months where dirt and water pile up beneath my vehicles. I considered buy of the unit with an integrated water pump, but realized that for my application this would not be of outstanding benefit.

Here are the pros/cons of this vac.

Pros:
1) Good performance with all included accessories
2) Easy access to bin – remotion of top engine is very simple
3) Low noise in comparison to other shop vacs I’ve owned, in spite of increased HP (actually this is my favored feature in this other than as supposed or expected well-build vac unit)
4) Simple filter installation
5) Solid connection for vac hose to motor unit
6) Large on/off switch – easy to use if you’re wearing gloves for the duration of cleanup
7) Does a good occupation with both liquid and arid material in my garage environment

Cons:
1) The bin is not the most easy to empty as it has assorted internal plastic ridges that cause arid material to catch.
2) The accessory storage does not integrate with the unit for compact storage
3) This remains a rather highpriced unit overall in comparison to what you may be competent to buy in your typical local merchandising stores.

Overall this is a well-built machine with only slight flaws. I would have given it 5-stars were it not for the overall cost. Some may argue that you get what you remunerate for, and in that light I’m satisfied.

5Shop Vac
By Pink Angel
I purchased this Shop-Vac for my husband’s birthday gift after much research. He is totally thrilled with it and says how outstanding it is that the hose is genuinely long sufficient to in truth work with, the tank so large, and there is a great deal of horse power to take care of the huge jobs.
