4Big and balanced with minor flaws
By Z. Cherry
5 inches of VG-10 steel. I like VG-10 steel as it has closely the best of both worlds. Strong cutting, edge keeping (almost as good as D2…almost…ish) AND corrosion resistant(Like AUS-8). The ARC lock was a smart move, as the blade would be too heavy for a realistic spring assist. I purchased the Pentagon Elite II before this, and in general like it(especially the point’s design), but I merely don’t like partially serrated. If I want a saw, I’ll use one. An inch and a half of serration isn’t genuinely gonna do much. So on to Pros and Cons, Cons first.

Cons–Heavy. Kinda pricey. Illegal to carry in public in a lot of places(look up knife laws to make sure, it IS over 4″ after all). Isn’t as deep pocketed as other SOGs, probably due to size.

Pros–VG-10 Blades are great, sadly hard to find because Japan(Seki in this case) has closely all production monopolized. Recurved blade focuses cutting edge. ARC lock is great, secure with easy open and close–almost feels like a balisong when you close it. Frame is very open and easy to clean. Though it is heavier than I would have thought, equated to other SOGs, due to the reinforced frame…It is very, very well balanced. When keeping it the precise remainder point is where my index naturally rests. It may actually be the most well balanced folding knife I’ve ever owned, and I own a lot.

Overall thoughts–Big and balanced. I like it.

4Good knife if found at right price.
By C. Que
Pros:
-SOG has a history of marketing their knives very sharp.
-Blade is a much better than it is cousin the Pentagon Elite II.
-polymer handle makes this lighter than a full SS knife.
-AUS 8 is a good SS steel
-Archlock makes it easy to open one handed.

Cons:
-This one was not as smooth as the Pentagon I own. Nothing a little work can’t fix.
-Usually overpriced

Overall this is a solid knife. If you need to carry around a larger folding knife, this knife comes oiled sharpened and ready out of the box. Its lighter than some of my other pocket knives and the blade is a betterment over the Pengagon elite II. If you leave near the ocean just do not forget AUS 8 may rust but isn’t a rust magnet.
Four stars out of five.

5SOG knives

After having the Spec Elite I, I thought more spectacular is better! I was not disappointed. The Spec Elite II is unquestionably not a little pocket knife. Maybe a little too big. The pocket clip makes it posing no difficulty to carry and the locking mechanism is as good as advertised. The lock even holds the blade when closed, so the cutting surface never touches the inside of the knife. I would never hesitate on buying another SOG knife. They are built to last.
