The primary I ever heard of Myspace was that it was the platform from which the unspeakable evil that is ‘My Chemical Romance’ was launched. As I grabbed my gun and headed off to wage war on what would inevitably be the end of the world, a good friend said to me, ‘I think Myspace has other stuff too.’

Of course, he was right. As I investigated further, it appeared that Myspace was a utile networking tool, a place to meet other people for fun, for love, for business; an interchange of ideas and words, music and film. There were pages consecrated to a whole range of artists from Bob Dylan to Metallica, thru the botheration that is ‘My Chemical Romance’. I was satisfied. Myspace would no longer be the target of one of my insane rampages versus terrible music. Remember ‘Busted’? – they didn’t genuinely split up… I killed them. And I did it for your benefit.

Getting into the swing of Myspace, I begun to browse around. I found I could listen to music samples for free by new and conventional artists. It is even possible to discover outstanding new bands by merely typing in the sort of music you like listening to normally. What a great idea – no dick-head record labels and shitty gigs to deal with (yet). Here was a place where talent spoke for itself, it was not dependant on cash to promote it, or luck to discover it. An artisan may tell the world what they’re with regards to and show the world what they’ve got. This, I was sure, was the future of music.

One aspect I found very useful, in reference to music, writing, film, or whatsoever talent was on display, was the capacity to give feedback. Sure, perhaps Bob Dylan and Metallica don’t go checking their Myspace inbox on a daily basis, but I recognise for a fact that the unsigned bands and undiscovered writers do. Telling somebody you respect what they are doing, or perchance providing a heap of much necessitated constructive criticism, is something that you can’t as without apparent effort do standing at the back of a crowd in a little pub, or reading a book in your room. These words of encouragement and support may make good artists great.

When I firstborn came across Myspace I was going through a transitional amount of time in my music tastes. I’d matured significantly since my nu-metal youth, and was presently exploring a wide range of sounds. The internet helped surely helped, telling me what my favourite artists liked and were influenced by, forming chains of bands that I could explore. At the time of my Myspace enlightenment, I had just gotten into ‘The Shins’, ‘Modest Mouse’ and ‘Death-Cab For Cutie’ (Yes, I’ll confess had been observing ‘The OC’).

By listing these three bands as influences upon the results to be generated, in a well laid-out search facility, I was capable to see to it the music I sampled would be at least inspired by something I like. I likewise entered ‘The Libertines’ to add a little British influence to the results.

More than anything I was impressed by the ingenuity of this mode of search. If I’d typed in ‘Indie-Rock’, god knows what nonsensicality I could have found, but I was impressed with the hundreds of bands thrown at me by the website. There surely was a lack of talent in sure cases, as may be expected in any potpourri of novice musicians, but the results were listenable. Some bands were genuinely impressive, and others not bad. The influences distinctly showed, which is not a bad thing by any means, I had after all searched with this in mind.

I decisive that I would seek out unsigned or unknown bands, rather than the seemingly usual ones that popped up. I’d never in truth heard of these bands, but I wanted to make a musical discovery, something few others were genuinely conscious of.

A few artists genuinely stood out in my mind. Perhaps at the forefront of this group was an Irish band claiming to be ‘Arctic Monkeys… only a lot less hype.’ Their name was ’15 Minutes’, and according to the selective information given on their personal Myspace, they had been around for three years, with two permanent members. Vocalist/ guitarist, Robert McGlade and Drummer Adam Steele were the two ceaseless members, though since the arrival of lead guitarist Aaron Mooney and Bassist Keith Bernard, the band has reached unexampled levels of creativity.

With a Myspace music page, chosen tracks will mechanically play when you log on, so you have no choice but to listen to the music of whatsoever band you want to read about. When I initial clicked on the ’15 Minutes’ page, I assumed I had stumbled upon another well-established band. Perhaps I had even found the Irish ‘Arctic Monkeys’.

’15 Minutes’ are, however, unsigned and underappreciated. Their sound is remindful of ‘The Libertines’ and ‘Arctic Monkeys’, but there is a fierce quality of being one of a kind there. The lyrics may not be as intellectual as those of our Pete, but they are far superior to those of the ”Monkeys’. The guitar is incredible, exceptionally on a brilliant, ludicrously attentiongetting track called ‘Can You Help Me (Richard Hell)?’ This song could without apparent effort be one of the greatest around, which is ironic given the subject matter is the problem of not being successful. When I asked Rob McGlade (guitarist) what incisively the song was about, he told me ‘I just thought that it would be good to write a song with [Richard Hell] in it, basically begging for his help, because I think most new music is sheer bollocks.’ Amen.

‘In Dublin’ must be ’15 Minutes” best song. After one listen I was singing along; it had burrowed deep into my head like only the best or worst of songs may do, and I ascertain you, ‘In Dublin’ is of the former rather than the latter. Every fellow member of the band is on form, and there is so much energy and passion in this song that when listening, it seems they cannot fail in their quest for recognition. This is genuinely a modern, nihilistic take on the ‘fairytale/ballad’ of Dublin’s reasonable city.

‘The Boy Who Cried Woolfe’ begins with a jumpy guitar intro that will surely be the soundtrack to a good deal of a hard night’s drink-fuelled shenanigans. Many of the scuffles and drunken states I’ve found myself in over the years come to mind when I listen to this track, and it occurs to me just how well ’15 Minutes’ have captured the non-glamorous, and utterly confusing, world of contemporary youth.

‘Miss Liberty’ is perhaps the least impressive and most vacant of ’15 Minutes” impressive array of tracks. The lyrics are disappointing when equated to other tracks, and the guitar is surely weaker. The bass, however, drives the song well and salvages much for the band. ‘Miss Liberty’ might not be clever or musically sophisticated, but it is bouncy and pleasurable nonetheless.

’15 Minutes’ have tapped into the culture and music of today and it is an inevitability that they will become the biggest thing in music in a very short time. Even their worst song is still good, and I could unquestionably see ‘Miss Liberty’ become a big success. If my prophecies for Myspace are correct, it will catapult them to stardom in no time.

The basi time any red blooded male signs up on MySpace, there is only one question running through his mind. “How Do find the hot chicks?” That question is one that isn’t that hard to answer, but without a solid game plan things could go horribly wrong.

Using your search tools and friends lists are a great place to start. You may quickly scroll through these lists and pick out the best looking women with ease. Some of them may have a private profile though, so you may have to send a friend request before you get to see their profile. It is a outstanding idea to message women with fixed profiles before you add them to your friends list. Sometimes these women just don’t want to be bothered but if your message is suave enough, you may disarm them with no difficulty.

Some women on MySpace are more than happy to receive your friend request. This could be a gift and a curse in one. Where you think a great deal of kind of romance could be cooking, she just could be giving you a courtesy add. A lot of women will do this, as one of their favored games on MySpace is “let’s see how a great deal of friends I may get.” A lot of women just want the attention as well.

If you have the right tools in your arsenal there isn’t any reason why you cannot get girls off MySpace. Just be sure to take proper precaution, and you will be just fine.

Since the price is cheap you think its gonna be a peice of crap or something is broken on it. I read the reviews which were saying thumbs up, so i decided to give it ago if it was crap well atleast i didnt pay much for it. Honestly this is one of the best webcams I have ever owned. The price is cheap, shipping was quick, and everything works. The picture is great and not laggy. All I did was plug it in and get on my skype and it started working it was awesome. The only problem I have with it are the lights a little bright they are either extremely low or really bright. Though it’s not a big thing to worry about it’s fine for me. not really sure what the button on the top is for though im sure I can figure it out by looking up the manual(manual and instructions not included)I would deffinatly reccommend this webcam to anyone who is searching for a good cheap webcam. Lets just hope it lasts!!!!

There are no LEDs on it, just plastic domes with a light underneath. Just 6 plastic bubbles put there to focus a light mounted under the body. It still gives off pretty good light, but it is NOT an LED webcam.
Also, I haven’t found a single way to make it work night vision. Unless by “night vision” it means “can see in the night because it has lights on it”
The light has a dial on the cord, which isn’t magnificent. It’s either “on,” or “off,” with nothing in between. Bright enough to illuminate a face in a pitch black room.
It also says “10x Digital Zoom” on the lens. However, I can’t find a way to make it zoom, at all, and it didn’t come with instructions. It didn’t even come in a box, it came in a plastic bag, inside a water-resistant, bubblewrapped paper bag. Good and protective, but not a box, like the picture suggests.
The stand has a slightly sticky material on it, but the weight of the cord easily still pulls the camera over. A blob of silly putty will hold it in place, piece of cake. The stand also unfolds for some reason unknown to me.
On the positive side, the video quality is decent for the price, the light is pretty bright, good for nighttime recording. It’s also plug-n-play, and installs software to let it run after you plug it in. Doesn’t come with a recording program though.
Edit: I just discovered a small feature. The silver part on top of the camera is a button. Push it, and it takes a picture. To see the pictures go to My Computer > USB Video Device. There, you see what it sees as the main box, and underneath, it shows all your snapshots. Right click a snapshot, and you can add it to “My Pictures,” otherwise, it just stays under USB Video Device

There is no software to install which is a plus but it was a bit confusing figuring out how to get to work. The first time I plugged it to my laptop (windows vista), the drivers were downloaded automatically. Then nothing happened. I restarted the laptop, still nothing. I had to open Yahoo Messenger, open the webcam application, then plug in the webcam and viola! it worked. There is a nifty light-bulb behind the lens so it can capture in the dark. You can control the amount of light but that’s about it. No other frills. Broadcasting speed is about 1 sec behind real time. The picture is great.

MySpace is on online social networking internetlocation that has in a literal sense taken the world by storm. If you surf the internet, listen to the radio, or watch television there is most likely that you have heard of MySpace before. In no time at all, MySpace has blossomed to become one of the most general online websites, in the entire world.

The firstborn step in joining is to register for an account and this may be done in a matter of minutes. Registration will concede you access to not only give rise to your own MySpace page, but provide numerous of the other features on the site. MySpace is exclusively free to use.

Once you register a MySpace account, you may begin building your own profile page. Although this is optional, it is the best way to get in contact with others and make new friends. To make the search for friends and groups easier, MySpace has a somewhat big collection of profile templates. These templates not only have an affect on the background of your profile page, but the text fonts as well. You may likewise fabricate your own, specially if you have basic cognition of HTML.

Many members have areas that grant them to describe themselves, their likes and dislikes. In addition to the preset sections, you may likewise add your own. A huge number of members have clips from their bestloved movies, television shows, or music videos. You too may add you own pictures and your own videos, if you choose to do so. While MySpace does have a great deal of rules, that may be found in the terms of use agreement, you basically have unlimited freedom, when it comes to making your own MySpace page.

Once you have established your own MySpace page, you may effortlessly search for others. You may search for other pages with a wide selection of dissimilar keyword phrases. If you are looking for an individual who lives near you, you may do a search for your town. Like gyroplanes and you are looking for someone who shares your love of gyroplanes, you may search for gyroplane enthusiasts. When you have find the MySpace page of an individual who you would like to become friends with, you may invite them to join your network. In addition to inviting others to join your network, there is a good chance that others will want to be your friends as well.

MySpace has been in the media because of it is popularity, attention it probably didn’t wish that it had received. MySpace, like other networking sites, internet safety has become a huge issue, in particular with children. If you are the parent of a child or teen, you may want to monitor their MySpace action and assure that their profile is set to a private listing. MySpace has a number of safety features in place, but to make use of these features you must know that they subsist and then use them.

Anyone may get Targeted Search Engine traffic with the support of Myspace and other social networking internet sites like Facebook and Tribe. This article will concentrate on Myspace but the principles are the same for all Social Networking Sites

Myspace started out as a way for Bands to advertize themselves and has now grown into the Largest social networking sight on the Internet with over 150 Million Members. MySpace and Face Book are not just for bands, Actors and Models anymore. A recent browse of Myspace shows pages for Hilary Clinton, Al Gore and numerous other Politicians. You will also find Popular Restaurants, Tourist Destinations and Home Based Business Opportunities with MySppace Pages as Well.

You don’t need to be a Band Promoter or Model to earn cash on MySpace. Many Smart Internet Marketers are making cash on Myspace syndication productions and services, The funny thing is you don’t even trade your product or service directly to MySpace members rather you use Myspace as a tool to enable you to get Top Search Engine Positioning. The increased Targeted Search Engine Traffic is what sells the product.

The way to get Highly purposed Search Engine Traffic with Myspace is to use MySpace to get those Coveted Links that enable your Web Site to get Higher Search Engine Page Rank.It is a very simple x Step process

Step 1 Join Myspace and setup an Account

Step 2 Add Lots of friends but no more then 400 a day

Step 3 By using the comment feature of Myspace Post your Link with a Combined Banner And Text Ad on all of your Friends MySpace Pages.

Step 4 Sign Up for another MySpace account and Repeat Steps 1 through 3 All over again.

Yes you may have Multiple MySpace Accounts

Lets do the Math if you make 400 Friends a Day per Account. That is 12,000 Friends a Month Per Account. If You have 20 Accounts that’s 240,000 Friends or 240,000 Possible Back Links.

Now lets say numerous of your friends don’t post your remarks and others don’t grant HTML in remarks even 10% of 240,000 Links is 24,000. These are just links on their Profile Page.

It doesn’t count Links on each of their Photo’s, The Forums, or classified Ads. Yes you too may have 24,000 Bank links to the chances of your choice 30 Days from today.

If the thought of all that posting is giving you hand cramps you may want to consider a good deal of automated My Space Tools

Whether you are not a single soul or somebody, having an account on myspace these days is more of a cultural status symbol. MySpace has in a literal sense exploded from just a few members to millions of members around the world within a very short time span. It has become our favourite place to be and a virtual requirement for those who want to make friends through an online community or find old friends with whom they have lost contact

The gains related to the application and orientation of Myspace to making some quick bucks are immense. Some of these gains are as follows:

1. The most necessary gain affiliated to the Myspace society is that the market is exceedingly easy to tap. If you may keep a straight face and build up an expert reputation, then all you in truth will have to do is to find prospects. Myspace is filled with people who have interests affiliated to your given product or service.

2. Furthermore, the in-built mechanisms of the Myspace layout likewise aid you to contact your target audience and to stimulate them for making your sell.

One of these tools is a “bulletin.” A bulletin is a message you may send out to all your potential clients at the same time and by doing so undertake to construct a product buzz. How may you use this in your favor? You may disseminate a bulletin in regards to a great deal of indirect offerings affiliated to your business; and then use that to entice them into reading your MySpace.

For instance, you may stage a come-and-get-it-for-free event – and then disseminate the buzz through your bulletin.

3. Directly contacting potential persons may also prove to be fruitful. You may use the private message service for this. Always think of fresh marketing gimmicks. And never cross the limit many times referred to as SPAM.

There are a number of other gains of using MySpace to make cash – here I have only given a brief prologue.

The pithy slogan that is a great catch to draw teen and adult readers similar is this -

“You may modify the planet. Here’s how.”

True to this phrase, the book is a how-to guide for teens to not only save energy, recycle, and be informed buyers of locally made products, but likewise teaches the readers how to be educators on all things “Green.”

One other interesting aspect of this book is it is writers – teens and subscribers from the social networking site, Myspace. Anyone and every one who submitted suggestions and tips to the “Our Planet” fellow member page, was cited and cited within the pages of this book! Seems like the two internet sites are very similar in terms of a great deal of of the basic Myspace surveys they offered. I would like to see numerous further and added fellow member devised free surveys. This web site was not as easy to use and it did not have any quizzes for me to take and share online. It may use a little bit of work yet.

Please don’t waste your time on this book. It does offer a lot of good gems of info, such as the teacher who couldn’t get his students to talk about a book in English class, so he invented a Facebook group for the class, and asked them to post their thoughts on the book there. These utile anecdotes are unluckily concealed in a wash of manure. The book is full of gross generalizations with regards to today’s youth and their media and technology habits. You’ve read these facts in a number of news publications, or you in all probability recognise sufficient from kids you spend time with. We get it. Kids use technology. So does everyone else. Kids use it more. Got it.

The author makes a federal case out of multi-tasking, as if no former generation has had the TV on and been gabbing on the phone while doing their homework. He in truth wastes paper defining what an avatar is, and describing how Wikipedia works. At one point he even states that youth “use all capital letters to denote strong emotions such as I AM ANGRY AT YOU.” If you’re in truth that clueless, perhaps this is the book for you.

The book also discusses how much kids like shoal bursts of information, and states that “even Sesame Street now has more cuts than ever before.” Problem is, the article he cites is from 1980. He doesn’t disclose this, but I knew this example was straightout false, so I took the time to find the referenced article on Google Scholar. The truth is, Sesame Street has been using longer segments, and making less cuts per hour episode since in regards to 2003. In another chapter, he shows video and audio podcasts as examples of engineering that are more immersive than books. Really? That’s so fantastically subjective to the content. I know he wants to push technology, and I do too, but the medium is for the most part beside the point there. Just look at how a good deal of kids became immersed in Harry Potter books. You may craft an immersive experience in some ways, with a heap of tools and mediums. A great teacher could craft an immersive experience with no physical resources at all.

Those aren’t the only instances in this book where he’s just making things up.
You could read much better education and engineering data on the internet. Please do.

12 of 13 humans found the following review helpful.
Lacking in data, analysis, and ideas
By Dunyazad
I hate to write a review without finishing the book, but I set this one down two months ago and still have no desire to pick it up again. Since I received it for free in interchange for a review, I feel obligated to write something now. If I do in the long run finish the book, I’ll come back and make revisions.

Rewired deals with an interesting and necessary topic, the role of technology in education. The premise is that members of the “iGeneration”, who grew up connected to all sorts of technology, have dissimilar learning needs from former generations and that the instructional system needs to make changes to accommodate these needs.

Unfortunately, the book itself is boring and unpersuasive. I think it would have been better as a magazine article, because there’s just not sufficient content here to warrant Rosen’s claims. He may tell me a million times that the iGeneration uses lots of engineering and needs engineering science in education too, but without any deeper reasoning, I’d genuinely prefer to listen it just once.

One example of the lack of content: Rosen tells us on p. 36 (in the second chapter) that “two-thirds of teens say their cell phone is their most necessary technology and half view it as ‘key to their social life.’ In fact, they place their cell phone as second only to their costume in representing their social status.” All well and good, though I’d prefer to see instructional policy invented on the basis of tryouts and experimental studies rather than opinion polls. The real problem, though, is that Rosen repeats this same statistic less than 20 pages later, with no further analysis to warrant revisiting the same old data: “According to a 2008 Harris Interactive national study of more than two thousand teens, 57 percent reported that their cell phone is the key to their social life and almost half admitted that their social life would end or be much worse without their phone. Strikingly, the survey showed that to teenagers, their cell phone portrays much more with regards to their popularity than jewelery, watches, and shoes.” (p.52)

If you don’t have sufficient info to fill out a 226-page book, perhaps that book just doesn’t need to be written right now. I had a similar problem with Rosen’s description of an exercise that he carries out with groups of educators and parents. The exercise comprises of a “blank chart with generational values and predilections listed on the left side and the four generations–Baby Boomers, Gen-Xers, Net-Geners, and iGeners–listed at the top”. The challenge is to match given predilections with the right generation; he gives an example in regards to communicating style: “(1) Face-to-face or telephone; (2) email or cell phone (3) text message, IM, Facebook; or (4) text message, Twitter, Skype, Myspace, Facebook, iPhone.” He goes on to say that he has never had a group get more than half of it right, which came as a bit of a surprise to me. The problem, though, is that he doesn’t provide an appendix with the finish exercise, so we just have to take his word that the questions were meaningful. When I asked him when it comes to this in an author chat, he responded that it was in his former book and the publishers wouldn’t let him disseminate it separately. Again, it seems that he just doesn’t have sufficient info to warrant the existence of this new book.

Despite the lack of data, Rosen could still have done well by proposing interesting new ideas regarding how to integrate engineering science into the classroom. Unfortunately, he’s huge on generalities and doesn’t have much in the way of concrete ideas. This is staged as a virtue: “It is crucial to note that I am not going to tell teachers how they ought to instruct and which lessons to use in the classroom…. I will, however, spotlight instructional approaches that tap into this younger generation’s noteworthy technical intensities and passions so that no matter what technology children adopt, educators and parents will be capable to use approaches to learning that make use of those technologies and help children shed their aversion to learning.” (p. 17) In practice, this means that he’s just telling us repeatedly that we must use technology in education, which isn’t much support when it genuinely comes to designing a curriculum. He even points out that some past attempts to comprise Power Point into the classroom failed because the engineering science was already stale by the time educators tried to fetch it in, emphasizing that we have to stick with what’s new and edgy, but it’s not clear how incisively to go when it comes to doing this. Telling us in frequent to comprise technology into the classroom, but to make sure to do it well and in a way that students will find interesting, just doesn’t seem worth the paper. If there’s fixed selective information to back up the frequent claims and fixed concrete suggestions in regards to what to do, I just don’t see the point of this book.

When Rosen does undertake to address practical points, his arguments come off as exceedingly simplistic. He defends the use of wireless mobile gadgets in the classroom by saying that they’re not too little to use, based on the assert of one high school student who watches videos on his iTouch all the time. Fine. But this supposed “problem” and feeble “solution” merit as much time as the much thornier issue of the socio-economic divide and whether students from lower-income families will be put at an even dandier disfavor than they are now by focusing education around the trendiest new gadgets. We’re assured blithely that wireless access will soon be free or cheap everywhere, and left to go on our merry way. I stay unconvinced.

In brief, I stay unconvinced when it comes to this whole book. There’s not much data, there’s not much analysis, and there aren’t a great deal of new ideas when it comes to what we ought to genuinely do. I was struggling through the primary 90 pages, but it in truth doesn’t seem worth my time to read on.

As a final note, Rosen also said in the aforementioned author consultation that he doesn’t like reading reviews, because they’re “either glowingly positive or point by point destructive”. I guess this one falls in the latter category, but I still think there’s something to be gained by listening to criticism rather than avoiding it. It’s too bad that this review is doomed to fall on deaf ears.

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful.
Interesting but Disconnected from the Classroom
By Russ Mayes
In Rewired, Larry Rosen argues that the students entering today are profoundly affected by the engineering science on which they have been raised. For example, Rosen argues that multi-tasking is something that these students have come to expect, and rather than encouraging them to focus on a task at hand, teachers must hug their multi-tasking proclivities. He acknowledges, though, that there is a trade-off: students who multi-task finish work more tardily even even though they seem to retain the same amount. There are numerous trade-offs in Rosen’s view of education. He argues that teachers ought to hug rich technical environments–like “Second Life”– but schools tend to block such technology. The idea that schools must open up their networks to games, social networks, and other technologies is just one way in which Rosen seems to ignore the realities that a great deal of teachers face. He is likewise dismissive of worries that a lot of students may not have equivalent access to engineering by relating an anecdote regarding a poor child who still managed to update a MySpace page. This book would have more real-world usefulness if it managed to recognize the difficulties and offer solutions that teachers may use to get over them.

On-line security for kids is a real topic for parents. The internet when employed decently may be a powerful instructional tool for children. At the same time, it may be very detrimental. It is in my sentiment networking sites, only blurs the line among what is reality and what is the truth. They have fixed control and there is no way of genuinely monitoring the content of these sites.

Children do not have the aroused maturity to recognize what is a dangerous contact and who they consider are their friends. The on-line world is no dissimilar then reality. The assumption is, if he/she is the same age, shares the same interests and lives in the same city then that will have to be true. If he/she says he is my friend and wants to meet me to talk or play, then it’s no dissimilar than a friend at school. We as parents know that isn’t always the case!

Even if there is no direct contact with the child and a parent monitors who is added as “their friend”, networking websites link into other profiles. Its too easy to obtain sufficient selective information when it comes to the child merely by searching their friends or reading posts the child made either on someone’s internet site or a message board. Should we put our children at risk just because they want to connect with others?

When my daughter came home one day, stating her friend had a myspace page and she wanted one too. When I asked her if she knew what myspace was, she did not have any idea. She just wanted what her friend had. Therefore, I decisive a good substitute would be to fabricate her own web site where I controlled the content. She could percentage it with her friend, but at the same time be safe. Not to mention, I could keep family and friends altered on her activenesses and developments as she is a particular needs child

When designing a internetsite for your child, here are things to remember:

Personal information: Do not list your city where you live, emplacement of school, or any child’s personal data you do not want for public consumption. Eliminate any method of contacting the child directly. If a child has his or her own email address, only percentage that with friends and family but do not post it on-line.

Parent’s Statement: Enclose a statement or disclaimer that this internetlocation is monitored by a parent and there is no data to contact the child. Also inform users of the internetlocation all content has parent approval and is kid friendly. I would highly commend providing a method either by form or email for another parent to contact you directly for further questions or concerns. The goal is to admonish potential predators but still give hope or courage to feedback from other parents.

Kid Approved links and content: While designing your site, remunerate careful attention to the content of the internet sites you link. Clearly you don’t want to link into pornography or graphically violent sites. FCC has specific guidlines when syndication to children. You may view their data at Kidz Privacy. Making sure that links do not point to non-kid friendly web sites may be tricky. Here are galore tips to keep in mind.

I wanted to create a pink panther page so I went to find cartoon videos on You Tube. I later came upon after I posted the cartoon of pink panther, at the end of the movie, it gave a selections of other videos you may view. Little did i know, one of the videos contained a very provocative dance to the Pink Panther Theme song! I quickly got rid of it and searched to find an alternate. Since You Tube commended selection is key word based, it took me a few hours to find a clip that only offered kid friendly videos at the end. It was time consuming but worth the effort.

On-line gaming sites: Some on-line gaming websites have free games you may post on your website. Most of the websites will link back into the main web site where users may view other on-line games. Some of the web sites may or may not integrate incorporate suitable content depending upon the age. So be selective and restrict websites you don’t want your children viewing. There are galore dissimilar types of online software such as Cyber Patrol that helps parents control not only the content they see, but likewise monitors their time on the internet.

Create restrictive access pages: Restrict any areas you would like to post more personal data like a family calendar, specific school events, etc. Only give select friends and family access to this information.

How do I design my site?

There are on-line communities like geocities that offer free on-line website building. My concern with using that type of service for a children’s internetlocation is the advertising. You may not keep out of the way of it and it is clickable! or a few bucks a month, these types of services offer DIY templates where you may construct and design your own internet site without the worry of advert and pop ups. Or you may design your web site yourself even though apps like MS Frontpage, Adobe Dreaweaver or MS Publisher. Graphic Designers may also make creating children’s websites painless and a fantasti surprise. What I like with regards to creating your own children’s internetsite is you will have the capacity to select your own URL which is much requiring little effort for a child to do not forget then a lengthy address. So to me, it is worth the expense.

Vietnam.

A young American soldier waits for his enemy, rifle in hand, finger on the trigger. He is affrighted to move and yet scared not to move. Gunshots crackle in the still air. The soldier fires blindly into the distant trees at an unseen enemy. He crouches and waits — heart pounding, tense and trembling, biting back tears. When will it all be over?

Walter Dean Myers joined the army on his seventeeth birthday, at the onset of American involvement in Vietnam, but it was the death of his brother in 1968 that for a limitless time changed his mind regarding war.

In a gripping and powerful story-poem, the award-winning author takes readers into the heart and mind of a young soldier in an alien land who comes face-to-face with the enemy. Strikingly illustrated with evocative and in an emotional manner wrenching collages by Caldecott Honor artisan Ann Grifalconi, this unforgettable portrait captures one American G.L’s haunting experience.

From Publishers WeeklyCamouflage endpapers set the stage for Myers’s (Handbook for Boys: A Novel, reviewed below) strange and gripping picture book set in Vietnam and geared to older readers. “The land of my enemy has wide valleys, mountains that stretch along the far horizon, rushing brown rivers, and thick green forests,” the riveting narrative poem begins. Grifalconi’s (the Everett Anderson books) sophisticated mixed-media collage shows a breathtaking vista, lush with trees, jagged mountains and terraced hillsides. On the next spread, Myers drops readers into the jungle with the narrator, a young American soldier, and his squad of nine men. The protagonist makes a nerve-wracking trek (“Somewhere in the forest, concealed in the shadows, is the enemy”), witnesses a bombing raid (“My body shakes. I tell myself that I will not die on this bright day”) and comes face-to-face with an enemy soldier (“In a heartbeat, we have learned too much regarding each other”neither fires). Myers, who fought in Vietnam, lays bare the young man’s emotions. Short phrases combine power with grace as the author artfully conveys the outward events of warfare and the resulting inner turmoil: in the village, the young man sees “the enemy. A brown woman with rivers of age etched deeply into her face. An old man, his eyes heavy with memory.” Grifalconi, too, subtly highlights war’s ridiculous contradictions. One in particular striking scene finds the G.I. facing his enemy all over a field alight with heartbreakingly lovely flowers and wildlife. Readers will hope this is as close as they ever get to the real thing. Ages 8-12.
Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information, Inc.

From School Library JournalGrade 4 Up-Myers’s verse powerfully evokes the experiences of a young soldier in this picture book. Searching the unfamiliar landscape, his squad tries to sense the presence of the enemy in the jungle. But who is the enemy? The old man in the village? The babies? Planes pass overhead, dropping bombs “at a distance that is never distant enough.” The author captures the young man’s fear, uncertainty, and weariness. “We move again. We are always moving.” The layers of Grifalconi’s full-page collage art conceal and disclose the flickering images of the text. Figures blend into the forest. Shadow and shape converge. The repetition of words and a landscape scene at the beginning and near the end of the book are exceptionally effective because they are the same except for the addition of fire and plumes of smoke in the “wide valleys” and “thick green forests” after the patrol has finished it is mission. These pictures are difficult to erase from one’s memory. When the soldier does encounter an enemy as young as himself, neither fires. Close sufficient to see one another, they can not kill. “In a heartbeat, we have learned too much with regards to each other.” Myers and Grifalconi’s demonstration is one that is hard to forget.
Kathy Piehl, Minnesota State University, Mankato
Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information, Inc.

From BooklistGr. 4-8. Myers’ Fallen Angels (1988) remains a landmark YA novel when it comes to an American teenager in Vietnam. At 17, Myers was a soldier there; his brother passed from physical life there. Now, in this spare, poetic picture book for older readers, Myers speaks in the voice of one young soldier who is with his squad for the duration of combat in the forest: “I am so afraid.” With his fear is his consciousness of his own violence: “I am the enemy.” The words express the physicalness of the combat soldier’s experience–the crush of his combat boots, the sound of his breath, the sweat on his back. Grifalconi’s collages of photos and watercolors are uneven in quality. The best of them extend the sense of fragility by focusing on a leaf, a helmet, a bird versus the dense brush and the exploding sky, and prepare readers for the climactic moment when, suddenly, the African American boy comes face to face with an enemy soldier who is as frighted as he is. Myers’ message is in the lack of drama. There’s no heroism, just weariness and waiting for the war to be over. Hazel Rochman
Copyright © American Library Association. R. Bird
All at once lush and frightening, Walter Dean Myers has penned a tale that seeks to remind us what war actually is. There are “Enemies” that are old men and babies. “Enemies” that sit beneath trees and contemplate their loved ones. Never have the lessons of Vietnam been more poignant or necessitated than they are right now. In writing this book, Myers has sought to present war beyond gore and gloom, looking rather at the very essence of death itself. Helped in this try by the award winning collage artisan Ann Grifalconi “Patrol” is a exceptionally bad or displeasing story that may hit a little too close to home for some, and not close sufficient for others.

Told in picture book format (a format that I suspect will raise a few eyebrows right there) the story follows one man allround his day in Vietnam. The man is frightened. He knows that his enemy is nearby and wants to injure him, just as he (on numerous level) wants to hurt his enemy. The man’s patrol burns down an innocent village that may house members of the enemy. He calls in bombs and dives into elephant grass for cover. There, he without intention runs face to face with the enemy. “In a heartbeat, we have learned too much regarding each other”. Both men escape and the patrolman goes back to base camp to write a letter to a loved one. He writes, “I am so very tired of this war”.

Taken in total, the book is a mélange of beauty and fear. Grifalconi has deftly intertwined illustration and photograph in the pages of this book. There are extraordinary pictures in which men drawn only with the slightest of pen lines crouch beneath big overblown tree leaves. When bombs burst in the distance, planes are both the actual cut-outs of airplanes and the hollows cut out of a misty sky. The men looking at are bathed in the orange light of the distance. Myers’ text is up to the challenge of confronting what war is. Though the author never goes so far as to condemn the idea of war itself, he finds other ways of showing how ridiculous some wars in truth are. When you’re as good an author as Walter Dean Myers, all you have to do is write the truth and your message will appear for you.

The inside cover of this book proclaims that it is age range is 8-12, which is patently ridiculous. I won’t debate if it is suitable or unsuitable for an eight year-old. That is left exclusively up to the reader (though there is not one thing gory or horrific sufficient to shock a kid of that age). What I take issue at is the age of 12 indicated as the oldest age at which a person would want to read this book. First of all, this book is perfective for teens and even college age kids and adults in giving a good eye for eye glare at the horrors of being caught in a fighting situation. Second, this book has a myriad of dissimilar uses. Teachers and librarians are constantly on the look out for picture books that are mature sufficient for those adults learning to read. What better intention could this book have?

When Walter Dean Myers joined the army at the age of seventeen, he had to come to grips with Vietnam and the fact that his brother passed away in combat. For this author, this book strikes close to home, revealing the stupidity of fighting. With our nation perpetually in combat these days, it takes books like this one to remind us of the dangers of acting as a nation without thought or intelligence. “Patrol” gives us some lessons to learn.

His spare, poetic text comes alive on the page, and takes the glamor and excitement out of war as you trudge through the difficult, hot terrain, ever vigilant. “We move again. We are always moving. My legs ache. My shoulders sag. My thousand eyes look for death in the waving bamboo fields.” You may feel the smooth wooden stock of the soldier’s rifle, the cold sweat running down his back, the fear and quivering as shots are fired and bombs explode, and the rapid beating of his heart. “I think I see the enemy. I reload and shoot again. It is only a shadow, but I do not stop shooting. In war, shadows are enemies, too.” But mostly, you feel the weariness and futility. “I am so tired. I am so very tired of this war.” Ann Grifalconi’s stunning, multi-media collages are evocative and gripping, and together word and art paint an eloquent and powerfully bright portrait of the Viet Nam War. Perfect for youngsters 9-12, Patrol: An American Soldier In Vietnam is a haunting experience that shouldn’t be missed, and unquestionably one of the best new books of 2002.

MySpace is a tremendously fast growing social networking website with over 200 million members. This presents a outstanding chance for network marketers, if they use MySpace responsibly. It is a fault to think MySpace is a community of for the most part kids and young humans with not one thing to do but spend time on the internet.

With thousands of people joining MySpace each day this gives vendors a terrifi chance to find like minded people, and new clients and distributors for their MLMs, when it is done in a professional manner and with the right strategy.

An effective profile is one that lets the visitor get to recognise you and what you are about. Network selling on the internet is when it comes to building relationships. People join a company because of you, and the leadership you may offer them. They likewise join people they trust. One way to build that trust is to personalize your profile. A picture of yourself is utterly mandatory, as well as your name. You may add slide shows which may include pictures of your family, your travels, out doing fun things or pictures you may have of company events you have attended. You surely may and will have to have a link to your web web site or lead capture page, but your profile ought to be one that adds value and shows your leadership abilities.

Adding your own video may be very effective. It’s much more personal, and in truth lets your visitors get to know you.

So how do you find other humans on MySpace? One way is with groups. There are thousands and thousands of them. You may browse the business categories, money, health if you market a nutritional MLM, or any other category that would fit the profile of who you would like to meet. Then you may request them to add you as a friend. You may join as a good deal of groups as you wish, and get started ones of your own. A group proprietor has even more vantages as it’s the firstborn page everyone sees when they browse a group.

Just be careful with this and don’t add too a great deal of friends at one time. MySpace has been known to delete accounts and you don’t want that to happen.

If you want to prevent spammers from posting on your page or undesirable friend requests just go to your account settings and check CAPTCHA. This is a program that protects your internetsite from bots which are software apps that automate friend requests and comments.

MySpace allows you to have your own blog, and it’s an primary tool to be using. This way you may build relationships with others. It’s even better if your blog includes marketing tips and schemes for humans to learn from. The more leadership attainments you may show others, the more beautiful you are to potential clients and distributors.

As with anything, the more energy and time you put into MySpace the more profitable it may be for you. It won’t cost you anything either.

57 of 61 humans found the following review helpful.
Very intermediate performance
By Liz Nary
I will have to primary say, beware of too much of rave reviews… always suspicious. Especially from people who only have 2 reviews in their profiles…

This little cam didn’t look so bad at first. The look and feel is very boxy, so it’s not the prettiest out there, but I thought I’d give it a try. I don’t recognise what the other guy was testing, but this doesn’t shed light equated to a logitech or to the IPEVO pov webcam. Maybe a little under a creative.
The light may have seemed fine to him, but I did testing in dissimilar conditions: indirect sunlight, direct sunlight (partial on my face, then all of me), bulb light, office light, and rainy day light.
Conclusion: this camera is no good on contrast proportionality and movement. The second you move, everything gets choppy. When you alter lighting, let’s say from natural light to office light, the white remainder is more or less off.
The night vision: it’s outperforming a originative and others, but honestly, it’s not like it’s crystal clear. After thinking when it comes to why I purchased it, I thought, do you actually want to be staring at your monitor for a long time in low lighting?? that’s very bad for your eyes.
The microphone: plainly unidirectional. You’re in front of it, and the sound is ok-ish, but you move 3 feet diagonally, and the other person may barely, very hardly here you.

Overall conclusion: there are better values out there.

20 of 20 people found the following review helpful.
Decent
By Christophor
I purchased one of these last week. I loaded the drivers and software without a problem. The software that came with is minimally useful, I primarily used it for testing the camera.

The picture quality is OK. Its not outstanding, but for the price, it is decent.

It worked great in normal daylight indoors and at night with normal room lighting. The picture was clear. I used it with MSN chat and the other party could see and listen me clearly.

At night, in the dark, it worked beautifully. I had all the lights off. Just me and the light from a laptop LCD. When I viewed myself, the picture was clear. When I viewed the rest of the darkened room, the picture was VERY clear. It worked best when I swopped to black and white mode. I could see the cat walking in the hallway with no visible light at all. I put in in the window and very without doubt or question viewed the trees and other objects outside that I couldn’t even see with my naked eye.

The camera has LED’s on it and it works very well in low light conditions, but best in black and white mode.

The only drawbacks are the microphone and the LED’s. The microphone is crap. Doesn’t work very well at all. Not much more to say when it comes to that.

You can’t shut off the LED’s in low light mode. They function automatically. This would not be a problem for most people. The LED’s themselves emit only a dim red light in darkness, but rendered the camera useless for my software experiment which requires light from only 1 source. I couldn’t shut off the LED’s short of covering them up with tape. Then there was a grid pattern on the image.

I was unable to use the camera for my software experiment, but it works fine for each day use. I employed it in conjunction with a cheap microscope to get decent pictures of a great deal of little objects. Very nice.

Overall, I’m happy with the purchase. Especially for night vision.

Not bad but not great. Decent.

This is a actually good webcam in spite of the fact that the frames per second are a bit slow at times. Now if you are looking for a high quality webcam then this is not the webcam for you, but if you are a poor student like me who wants a basic webcam with a built in mircophone to video chat with far away family and friends at a good price, then i would strongly recomend this camera.

MySpace 2.0 Layouts are the most recent trend on the MySpace scene. This altered layout style is making an aspect on all of the best MySpace profiles and is quickly getting frequent because of it is sleeker, more innovative look. Though there is not the plethora of MySpace 2.0 layouts available for free download that is so readily available of the basi layout style, you may effortlessly invent your own MySpace layout 2.0 style. You just need a good MySpace layout generator.

In a good MySpace background generator, you must be capable to choose from available images on the web (be careful not to choose content that is underneath copyright) or have the capacity to upload your own background image. This is exceptionally utile for a business profile, as you may design a background with your company logo or image. Use this effigy to fabricate your own MySpace layout and then use the generator’s choices to custommake the tables, links, text, and anything else that you would like to change. My counsel is to not go overboard on crazy divergences from the 2.0 layout style if you are attempting to present a professional image. Perhaps choose one option to actually play with and leave the rest in a ordinary format. This makes users more comfortable and makes your profile more comfortable to take in. If your business effigy is more on the wild side, then go for it and add all of the color and images that you like, just keep usability in mind.

Layout background generators will formulate a code for you in a language called CSS. The wondrous thing when it comes to using a background generator is that you do not have to understand this code, be competent to write or read it; you only have to be capable to carry out a simple cut and paste action. Highlight all of the code that is formulated and log in to your MySpace profile. To update your profile, you will need to click on the “profile” tab and then the “customize profile” link. If you have not yet upgraded your profile to a MySpace 2.0 style, you will be prompted to do so at this point. Find the “CSS” link and click it to open a field to place your CSS code. Clear any code that is already in this field. Next, paste the code that your layout generator gave you in this field, then click the big yellow “Publish” button that is on the top right-hand corner of your screen.

After completing these steps, you will have with great success developed your own MySpace 2.0 profile that is customized to your needs. You may proceed to play around with the modules in your new 2.0 profile to get the precise look that you wish to present. In this digital era, a MySpace presence is necessary for any business.

This makes users more comfortable and makes your profile posing no difficulty to take in. If your business effigy is more on the wild side, then go for it and add all of the color and images that you like, just keep usability in mind.

Layout background generators will fabricate a code for you in a language called CSS. The terrifi thing in regards to using a background generator is that you do not have to understand this code, be capable to write or read it; you only have to be capable to carry out a simple cut and paste action. Highlight all of the code that is devised and log in to your MySpace profile. Next, paste the code that your layout generator gave you in this field, then click the huge yellow “Publish” button that is on the top right-hand corner of your screen.

After completing these steps, you will have with great success formulated your own MySpace 2.0 profile that is customized to your needs. You may carry on to play around with the modules in your new 2.0 profile to get the precise look that you wish to present. In this digital era, a MySpace presence is necessary for any business.

Connect with your world day or night using our Webcam with Night Vision. 6 LEDs will illumine the darkness, and a high-resolution color sensor provides 24-bit unfeigned color. Since the price is cheap you think it is gonna be a peice of crap or something is broken on it. I read the reviews which were saying thumbs up, so i decisive to give it ago if it was crap well atleast i did not pay much for it. Honestly this is one of the best webcams I have ever owned. The price is cheap, shipping was quick, and everything works. The picture is outstanding and not laggy. All I did was plug it in and get on my skype and it started working it was awesome. The only problem I have with it are the lights a little bright they are either exceedingly low or actually bright. Though it’s not a big thing to worry regarding it’s fine for me. not genuinely sure what the button on the top is for altho im sure I may figure it out by looking up the manual(manual and instructions not included)I would deffinatly reccommend this webcam to any person who is searching for a good cheap webcam. Lets just hope it lasts!!!!

There are no LEDs on it, just plastic domes with a light underneath. Just 6 plastic bubbles put there to focus a light mounted beneath the body. It still gives off beauteous good light, but it is NOT an LED webcam.
Also, I haven’t found a single way to make it work night vision. Unless by “night vision” it means “can see in the night because it has lights on it”
The light has a dial on the cord, which isn’t magnificent. It’s either “on,” or “off,” with not one thing in between. Bright sufficient to illumine a face in a pitch black room.
It likewise says “10x Digital Zoom” on the lens. However, I can’t find a way to make it zoom, at all, and it didn’t come with instructions. It didn’t even come in a box, it came in a plastic bag, inside a water-resistant, bubblewrapped paper bag. Good and protective, but not a box, like the picture suggests.
The stand has a more or less sticky material on it, but the weight of the cord without apparent effort still pulls the camera over. A blob of ludicrous putty will hold it in place, piece of cake. The stand also unfolds for numerous reason unknown to me.
On the positive side, the video quality is decent for the price, the light is beauteous bright, good for nighttime recording. It’s likewise plug-n-play, and installs software to let it run after you plug it in. Doesn’t come with a recording program though.
Edit: I just encountered a little feature. The silver part on top of the camera is a button. Push it, and it takes a picture. To see the pictures go to My Computer > USB Video Device. There, you see what it sees as the main box, and underneath, it shows all your snapshots. Right click a snapshot, and you may add it to “My Pictures,” otherwise, it just stays beneath USB Video Device

There is no software to install which is a plus but it was a bit mixing up figuring out how to get to work. The original time I plugged it to my laptop (windows vista), the drivers were downloaded automatically. Then not one thing happened. I restarted the laptop, still nothing. I had to open Yahoo Messenger, open the webcam application, then plug in the webcam and viola! it worked. There is a nifty light-bulb behind the lens so it may capture in the dark. You may control the amount of light but that’s when it comes to it. No other frills. Broadcasting speed is when it comes to 1 sec behind real time. The picture is great.
