The following lists major dissimilar among TEW-691GR, Belkin Max Play (the progressed version of new Belkin routers), and Linksys E-3000 (the progressed version of E-Series) wireless router.

Wireless Maximum Speed (ideal conditions)

Both Linksys E-series and new Belkin wireless routers may deliver the speeds up to 300 Mbps. But TEW-691GR may boost the speed up to 450 Mbps. Off courses this is in the idealisti conditions, the actual speed may vary.

1Not liking this latest TREND (get it? TREND?? Whatever.)
By Shake-Man
I was a proud proprietor of the discontinued TRENDnet 300Mbps Wireless N Gigabit Router TEW-633GR. It had the perfective blend of price and performance. Unfortunately, a lightning strike turned an amazing router into a smoldering paperweight. The model number and feature set of the 634 led me to believe that it was an altered version of the 633. Sadly, that doesn’t seem to be the case. The 633 was sleek and packed with options. The 634 is toned down but still beautiful in it is own right, but the feature set, when examined more closely, makes the 634 seem neutered in comparison. Gone is the Streamengine QOS, and assorted of the other choices are either too generic or feel unfinished. Still, if it had worked, I could have lived with it. Regrettably, each time I tried to connect my Ethernet switch, the 634 lost Internet connection and became unresponsive. Power cycling didn’t help. The only thing that brought it back online was to have my desktop PC, and only my desktop PC, hooked up. A router isn’t much good when it may only route to one piece of equipment.

I still love TRENDnet, and I have purchased assorted of their productions for myself and family members. They make good productions at an lowpriced price point. This just isn’t one of them.

1disapointed
By J. greenwald
wanted to replace my old linksys wireless g – but ended up sending this back because:
1. No speed divergence using n (this is among a new mac mini with wireless n and ethernet connected gigbit mac)
2. USB ports will not work with Macs – windows only
3. Every configuration change made to the router setup screens causes a 45 second delay/wait while it “saves” applies the change.
I ended up buying a used apple airport extreme base station…
