Andy Warhol went in for procedure gall bladder surgery in a New York hospital and on February 22, 1987, he had a sudden heart attack. It was believed that the nursing staff didn’t not follow protocol of care following gall bladder surgery,which according to his lawyers caused his death, which in turn they sued the hospital. His body was then taken to Pittsburgh by his brothers where he was buried next to his parents. It was an open casket service and before he was lowered in the ground a friend put an Interview magazine and t-shirt and a bottle of Estee Lauders Beautiful. When Andy was young, he was a beauteous sickly child, where developed a fear of hospitals and doctors. He was bedridden a lot of the time where he expended his time drawing and hanging of pictures of the celebrities around him. During that time he also a developed a very strong kinship and bond with his mother who was his caretaker for the duration of those times. Warhol was a widely known and esteemed artisan that most critics always stated that his art was a “put on”,but he was the cultural icon that started “pop art” Warhol was loved by an array of communities from the rich aristocrats to the gay community. He was also loved by Hollywood’s elite and painted numerous of the stars of that era. Since Warhol was always intrigued by Hollywood stars, he expended a lot his time with them at places such as Studio 54, a favored night club to Hollywood. He was likewise intrigued by the “Bohemian” street people just as much as they were by his art. He likewise made short films as well,which was rather a modify from his days of doing mercantile art. His sexuality was always in question due to the content of his art, but he never commented to the public in regards to that subject. On April 1, 1987 there was a memorial service in Manhattan. Friends and family gathered to do not forget the eccentric artist. Through his eccentricity, Warhol was an great business man. It took Sotheby’s nine days to coordinate and trade all of Andy Warhol’s assets, which sold for an amazing 20 million dollars. His estate was worth more than that due to his business dealings.
