The technology used in cordless power tools has moved forwards in leaps and bounds over the past few years. Firstly the introduction of NiMH batteries substituted Ni-Cad batteries in cordless power tools and now NiMH batteries are being substituted by new Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, which have been introduced to the industry. Many of the main tool manufacturers are now using 18v Li-ion batteries in their cordless tools. One such manufacturer being Makita, whose 18v power tools are leading the way in the use of this new technology.

Having said that, Li-ion batteries have been in use in other electronic appliances, such as laptops, for a lot of time but they have only not so long ago begun to be applied in cordless power tools. No battery life

Those that said the battery had no life were correct, five 15 minute uses and it was completely dead, will NOT recharge even altho the green light on the charging station says it has. USELESS PRODUCT! $120 for a little more than an hours work. From the exploration I have done it appears you will have to NOT leave the battery in the charging station once the green light goes on, it will destruct the battery. Once it recharges put it back in the trimmer and leave it there until recharging again. This may no save your battery but at least it will last longer than an hour.

Total Disappointment

Unbelievable in that I have three Worx GT WA3512 (18-v lithium ion) batteries, the orignal that came with the trimmer and two spares. Currently, only one is working, as the other two are faulty – no longer taking a charge. Purchased unit in April 2010. I contacted Worx GT, given the 30-day return amount of time had elapsed. While Worx GT is more than willing to replace the primary battery, it has been over 30 days and I have not received the alternate battery. Worked my lawn this morning and the primary battery is no longer accepting a charge – so I am down to one battery pending Worx replacing battery number two. Hopefully, I will limp through the summer with this equipment, but will replace with a Sears Craftsman of Black and Decker for next year. We have employed a Black and Decker trimmer for almost 5 years – never, never had a problem of this kind in preserving a charge. Despite it shortened battery life, the Black and Decker Unit runs circles around the Worx GT’s battery life. Worx GT needs to come clean with the buyer on it is inferior batteries. Unless it is corded, Worx GT merchandise are unworthy when connected to their Lithium Ion batteries. As for Worx’s client service – necessitated to contact them on the status of my substitute battery. Guessing they are very busy, given the number of battery complaints found in QVC and Amazon.COM. Battery wouldn’t charge after a month

The battery stopped charging after with regards to a month (5 charges?). This sounds like a mutual problem with their batteries.
